Hey, I’m Riely Heimark, the owner of Lake Bros. And on any given day in the summer, I’m removing weeds, repairing rip rap, cleaning beaches, and supporting my incredible team of employees.

 

Some of my earliest memories involve time at the lake. I remember as a little boy wanting to swim in a particular lake, but being scared of the underwater cattails and the leeches I knew could hide on the weeds. It’s like I already knew that the best lakes to swim in are the ones where the weeds are well under control.

My brothers and I were brought up knowing the value of hard work. From weeding gardens, mowing lawns, picking up sticks, and cleaning out gutters – small jobs taught me the value of hard work and a dollar earned.

Our first lake weed removal project was for a family friend who needed to sell his lake cabin but knew that his lakefront was in serious need of cleaning and repair. We tackled the job, and man, it was satisfying to turn that property around. His lake cabin sold in less than two weeks.

I went away with newfound knowledge, skills, and the start of a business.

In the years since then, Lake Bros. has continued to grow the old-fashioned way - through referrals of really satisfied clients, the support of the Detroit Lakes and Pelican Rapids community, and a whole lot of sweat equity.

Most of our growth has been due to word of mouth – and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
